Periods, the word itself gives me pain. Those 4-5 days in a month are the most depressing and painful days in every woman’s life. Though many things can help us in getting rid of menstrual pain, still it’s important that we women take proper care of our health during periods.

Along with maintaining personal hygiene, there are a few habits that we must stop doing.

1. If you’re wearing the same pad for the whole day, it can cause vaginal infections and produce a bad odor. Change your pad in every 3-5 hours, whether you’re bleeding heavily or low.

2. Avoid giving more pain to your body. You’re already experiencing menstrual pain, so avoid doing things that can give more pain like waxing or planning a root canal.

3. If you’re having unprotected sex during periods, there are high chances of getting infections. Therefore, avoid sexual intercourse during periods.

4. Doing rigorous exercises during periods will harm your body and give strain to the body.

5. You’re already losing a lot of energy and blood from your body. Therefore, it is not advisable to skip meals during periods. You should take three proper meals along with some snacks in between.

6. If you get cravings for food in the middle of the night, avoid that as it is not good for the body and also your body will not be able to digest all the greasy food that gets in.

7. Though the menstrual cramps make it difficult for girls to sleep at night but it is recommended to have a good night’s sleep and relax your body because of the strain that you’ve experienced whole day.

8. Avoid consuming milk products as it can worsen the menstrual cramps because they contain an element called arachidonic acid.

9. Avoid involving yourself in depressing activities like watching distressing movies and listening to sad songs as it may affect the psychological health of any women.

Tanzania: officials summons WHO over Ebola claims

Tanzania’s government has summoned the World Health Organisation’s local representative over claims that they’re concealing information on Ebola virus infections in the country.

On Saturday, WHO said in a statement that it had learned of one suspected fatal case in the main city, Dar es Salaam, and two other infections but, despite repeated requests, was given no information.

Last week, Tanzania said it had no confirmed or suspected cases of Ebola.

Government spokesman Hassan Abbasi said on Twitter that the ministry of foreign affairs had summoned the WHO’s Tigest Ketsela Mengestu to obtain “in-depth details from the agency on reports circulating in the media”.

A short video clip has also been posted on the ministry’s Twitter account, showing Dr Tigest clarifying at a meeting with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Damas Ndumbaro that the WHO did not say there was Ebola in Tanzania:

Ebola virus has cause major loss of life and socioeconomic disruption in Africa.

The number of cases has began to decline gradually, following the commitment of substantial international resources.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has rebuked Tanzania for failing to provide information about possible Ebola virus infections.

The WHO said it had learned of one suspected fatal case in Dar es Salaam and two others but, despite repeated requests, was given no information

Tanzania has said it has no suspected or confirmed cases.

The latest outbreak has killed more than 2,000 in eastern DR Congo, with Uganda battling to stop any spread.
