MC Oluomo Says He Was Referring To His Food Vendor ‘Iya Chukwudi’, Not Igbos

The Chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has denied making an alleged threat against the Igbos in Lagos State ahead of the Governorship and State Assembly Elections on Saturday. In a video that has gone viral, MC Oluomo spoke alongside “Iya Chukwudi,” whom he claimed was his sister. He clarified that he was referring to her when he said, “Iya Chukwudi, if you know you’re not voting for me, sit at your home.” MC Oluomo stated that he was always after the peace of Lagos and that there is peace in the state. He questioned why he would ask people not to come out to vote on an election day, emphasizing that voting is essential to democracy.

It can be recalled that MC Oluomo had allegedly issued a warning to Igbo residents in the state who would not vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to stay at home. The video of his speech had gone viral on social media, leading to condemnation from different quarters. However, MC Oluomo’s recent video clarified that he did not make a general threat but was only referring to his sister, “Iya Chukwudi.”

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, had earlier announced that an investigation was launched into the alleged threat. He condemned any act, statement, or action that could be interpreted as hate speech or that could deepen political tension in the state. Owohunwa assured the public that the investigation into MC Oluomo’s case would be thorough.

In conclusion, MC Oluomo has disclaimed making an alleged threat against Igbos in Lagos State. He explained that he was referring to his sister and not the Igbo community in general. The police have launched an investigation into the case, and the public awaits the outcome. It is essential to maintain peace and unity in Lagos State, especially during election periods.
