Zimbabwe army chief who helped removed Robert Mugabe has been sworn in as Vice President

Zimbabwe’s former army commander, General Constantino Chiwenga who led a military takeover that helped end Robert Mugabe’s 37-year rule has been sworn in as one of the country’s two vice presidents today.

The 61-year old miliary chief took the oath of office at the presidential office in Harare, pledging to “obey, uphold and defend the constitution” of the country, according to a journalist who witnessed the ceremony.
