DPRK PLEDGES TO PARTNER NIGERIA TO BOOST SECURITY.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), on Monday, promised to partner with Nigeria in area of peace and security.

Mr Jong Yong Chol, the Ambassador, DPRK, said this in his address at the 76th birthday ceremony of the late Korean leader, Kim Jong-Il, organised by the Embassy in Abuja.

He described the late Korean leader as one who devoted his lifetime to enthrone peace and security in Korea and in the world.

He, therefore, commended the post-hummus ceremony, which was to commemorate his exemplary leadership.

According to him, it was under his leadership that the country witnessed external relationship with countries like Nigeria, they enjoy today, which brought about economic ties between both countries.

“Kim Jong Il, devoted his lifetime to the service of the whole world, this is why not only Koreans, but progressive people all over the world are celebrating his birthday.

“We hope to build on the traditional relationship and cooperation between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Korea.

“We hope to consolidate and sustain the existing peace and security.

“This is because the revolutionary of Kim Jong-Il today is successfully and succeeded by Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader of our party and people towards promoting peace,’’ he said.

He, however, wished the government and people of Nigeria success in the fights against issues like corruption and terrorism.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that North Korea’s Kim Jong-Il, who was born on Feb. 16, 1942, died on Dec. 19, 2011 at the age of 69 years.

NAN also reports the high points of the ceremony were video display on the life and times of the late Korean leader, pose for photographs

Expect sack over N30,000 minimum wage -Governors warns

Nigerian governors have rejected the proposed increase of N30,000 minimum wage,  unless the organised labour wants its members to be sacked.



Adding that, the 36 States rejected it because they will run bankrupt if they accept to pay the workers that amount. 

On Wednesday, The chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ summon its members on emergency meeting in Abuja calling on the Federal Government to agree to their demand by reviewing the national revenue allocation formula.

The chairman, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, told the newsmen that a new committee would be raised to meet with President over this issue.

The committee members who are nominated to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari includes governor of Enugu,Bauchi,Akwa Ibom,Plateau,Kebbi,Lagos and Kaduna.

Yari said, he hopes the committees engagement with  President will make everybody happy if an agreement is reached.

Social media in frenzy over high school student’s height.

Ghanaians have severally reacted to a photo showing an extraordinarily tall high school student. Name unknown, the teen is already been touted as a potential basketball player because of his height.



The state-owned Daily Graphic was among the first portals to share his photo sandwiched between his headmaster and a teacher. The photo attracted lots of comments and shares especially on Facebook.

He is a first-year student at the Swedru Secondary Business School, SWESBUS, a school located in the country’s Central Region.
