Serena Beats Zarina Diyas To Register An Impressive Return.

Former world number one Serena Williams won her first singles match on the WTA Tour for nearly 14 months as she returned after the birth of her child.

The 36 year old American athlete, reached the second round at Indian Wells with a 7-5 6-3 victory over Kazakhstan’s Zarina Diyas. It was her first singles match on the Tour since she won the 2017 Australian Open while pregnant.

“I’m a little rusty but it doesn’t matter,” said the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion.

“It definitely wasn’t easy but it was good.”

Williams was given a standing ovation as she walked onto court.

Her husband Alexis Ohanian was in the crowd as she set up a second-round match with 29th-seeded Dutch player Kiki Bertens.

Williams gave birth to daughter Alexis Olympia on 1 September.
She says post-childbirth health complications – including blood clots in her lungs – were almost fatal.

Williams missed this year’s Australian Open because she did not consider herself ready for the tournament.

Speaking after her win over Diyas, she said: “It was incredible. It’s been over a year and a kid later.

“I’m just out here on this journey doing the best I can.”

French president pledges to oust anti-Semitism

France President Emmanuel Macron has disclosed his intention to end anti-Semitism due to the  rate in which racism is growing.



When addressing the Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions (CRIF), he pledge to introduce legislation to oust hate speech and expresses his desire to cooperate with social media firms to identify the authors.

“Our country, and for that matter all of Europe and most Western democracies, seems to be facing a resurgence of anti-Semitism unseen since World War II,” Macron said on Wednesday.

In addition he said “Behind the negation of Israel’s existence, what is hiding is the hatred of Jews.”

French president added that anti-Semitism is based on “radical Islamism” as a rampant ideology in France’s multi-ethnic, poor neighborhoods.

Fire out-break leave scores dead in Bangladesh’s Capital, Dhaka.

Two source knowledgeable with the blaze that broke out on Wednesday evening has confirmed that the incident had claim at least 60 resident in Bangladesh’s Capital, Dhaka.



The fire fighter was seen struggling to bring the blaze under control as the fire wax stronger when it spread to surrounding house filled with plastic and gas cylinder.

President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the incident and sympathy with the families of those killed in the fire.
