Nigeria: Police seal shops of suspected principals over alleged murder case.

The police have sealed the shops of five ‘principal suspects’ alleged to have masterminded the killing of Igwe Stephen Nwatu, the traditional ruler of Ogbozinne Akpugo, a community in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The royal father, who was accused of ‘tyranny’ by his subjects, was beaten to death by a mob on June 11.



Our correspondent learnt that the sealed shops are located in the Alaba International Market, Lagos.

It was equally gathered that, until his death, the Igwe was at loggerheads with members of the community’s town union, most of whom are Lagos-based businessmen with shops in the Alaba International Market.

The bank accounts of the suspects were also frozen by the police.

Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, Mohammed Danmallam, who confirmed the development while addressing journalists on Thursday, said the move was part of ‘strategies’ adopted by the police towards apprehending three of the principal suspects, who were currently at large.

Danmallam further disclosed that the police was on the trail of the fleeing suspects, including one Chijioke Okenwa, the alleged leader of the group accused of killing the traditional ruler.

Ex-President Abdulla yameen apprehended for corruption in Maldives

Formal President Abdulla Yameen has been accuse of money laundering and the state court has ordered for his arrest adding that he will remain in the state custody until the end of the trial.



Police says Abdulla Yameen has refuse to return the money despite anti-corruption watchdog intervention, and instead he fax in the money to another account which he obtained profit.

The 59-year-old was charged with money laundering last week over claims he received $1m, stolen from state coffers in the country’s biggest-ever corruption scandal.

In December, the police said authorities froze Yameen’s bank accounts and seized more than 100 million rufiyaas ($6m) in US dollars and local currency.

Deadly attack leaves four Indian Soldiers dead in Kashmir gun battle

The police spokesman has expressed dismay regarding to the deadliest attack which see military officers and civilians killed in a gun battle with the militants in Indian-administered Kashmir.
