President Chakwera Pardons Former Homeland Security Minister Uladi Mussa and 199 Others in Easter Commemoration

In a recent development, President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has granted pardons to 200 prisoners, including Former Homeland Security Minister Uladi Mussa, as part of the Easter commemoration. Mussa was previously sentenced to five years imprisonment with hard labour for corruptly awarding Malawian passports to foreigners.

Along with Mussa, the President has also shown mercy towards John Mussa, who was convicted for chamba possession, and Jones Tewesa, who was the driver of former MEC Commissioner, Linda Kunje, among other pardoned prisoners. The Minister of Homeland Security, Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma, confirmed the news to the press.

Ng’oma revealed that the President’s decision to pardon the prisoners was based on their good behavior while serving their sentences and the fact that they committed minor offences. This act of mercy by the President has brought relief to the pardoned prisoners and their families, who can now be reunited with their loved ones.
