Nigeria: State government pleads Corps members to stay in Borno.

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State on Thursday pleaded with corps members deployed in the state not to seek redeployment, assuring them of his government’s commitment to their welfare and security.
He also told them that they are major stakeholders in the task of the development of the state.

Shettima made the appeal in Katsina during the commencement of a three-week orientation for the 2018 Batch ‘C’ corps members deployed in the state.



The orientation is taking place at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps training camp, Babaruga in the outskirts of Katsina State.

The Governor who was represented at the occasion by the Chairman of the Borno NYSC Governing council.

Alhaji Mahdi Gazali, maintained that the state government still paid extra allowances to corps members deployed in the state, aside from monthly stipends being paid them by the NYSC.

According to him, the state still pays monthly allowances of N10,000 to all categories of corps members; N50,000 to paramedics graduates and N100,000 to corps members who are medical doctors.

The Borno State Coordinator of the NYSC, Alhaji Rabiu Aminu, disclosed that as of Wednesday night, 1,354 corps members made up of 750 males and 604 females had reported at the orientation camp.

The orientation programme is expected to end on November 12, 2018.

CAF Sidelines Nigerian Centre Referees for 2019 AFCON

Out of the Twenty-seven centre referees penciled down for the 2019 African Cup of Nations, countries like Burundi, Mali, Zambia and Sudan are represented on the list, but no Nigerian referee was selected for the big occasions.

However, only one assistant referee from Nigeria named Baba Adel was listed among the twenty-nine assistant referees selected by the African Football Governing Body.

The competition will be held from 21 June to 19 July 2019, as per the decision of the CAF Executive Committee on 20 July 2017.

Nigerian Govt Seeks U.S.$1 Billion Loan for Power Sector Again.

Apart from the accumulation of 2.74 trillion Naira the Nigerian government under the watch of President Olusegun Obasanjo, President Umar Yaradua and Goodluck Jonathan have differently spent on the development of the Power sector, Federal government have commenced discussion with the World Bank with the hope of taking a $1 billion loan.

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed made this disclosure at the press briefing marking the end of the 2019 Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, IMF, in Washington DC, USA, yesterday.

Meanwhile, The Federal Government have allegedly spent another 900 billion Naira within the last four years through the ministry of Power and Steel, under the watch of Babatunde Fashola.
