Apple Inc (AAPL.O) is expected to unveil updates to its Mac computers and iPads that include facial recognition features that have been available in the iPhone lineup at an event in Brooklyn on Tuesday.
According to analysts, they expects a new versions of Apple’s iPad Pro, its higher-end tablet computer that competes with the Microsoft Surface, with thinner bezels and more screen space, along with the face unlock system found on Apple’s newer iPhones.
They also expect updates to the firm’s Mac lineup such as redesigned MacBook Air, Apple’s 999 dollars entry-level laptop.
Apple introduced new iPhones and Apple Watches last month, but the older product lines accounted for 45 billion dollars in sales in the most recent fiscal quarter. In comparison, iPhones brought in revenue of 141.3 billion dollars.
“They really wanted to show the world they haven’t forgotten about the iPad and the Mac,” said Mika Kitagawa, a senior principal research analyst at Gartner.
In July when Apple reported its most recent quarter, the company had its worst quarter of Mac sales since 2010, with unit volumes down 13 per cent year over year.

And iPad unit sales were up only one per cent versus a year earlier, and revenue for both was down five per cent from the prior year. But some of that dip in Mac sales was explained by timing – Apple waited to release new Macs until July, when it had in previous years offered them in June. More broadly, Macs sales growth has outpaced the PC market and the iPad has been the most successful tablet in a market that simply turned out to be smaller than Apple hoped when it released the device in 2010.

Victor osimhen bags player of the month award
Lille’s Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has been named September’s French Ligue 1 Player of the Month.
The 20-year-old striker, who joined the club in August from Belgian side RSC Charleroi, scored twice and provided two assists in five matches last month as Lille climbed into the top five.
“It’s been an amazing time at this club and to get this award is surreal,” says Osimhen
“I’m grateful to those who voted, thankful to my teammates, our backroom staff and the entire Lille fans for the love.
“I never expected this to happen so soon but I guess this is what comes when you are surrounded by great players, loved ones and the blessings of God.”
Osimhen saw off the challenges of Monaco’s Algerian international Islam Slimani and veteran Nantes defender Nicolas Pallois to the monthly honour awarded by the Player’s Union (UNFP).
He succeeds Angola-born Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, who won the August award and became the youngest ever winner at the age of 16.
An incredible two months for Osimhen in the colours of Lille has resulted in eight goals in 11 appearances for the northern club.
Osimhen was the top scorer as Nigeria clinched a fifth Under-17 World Cup title in 2015 with 10 goals in Chile, which saw him win the Golden Boot and Silver Ball.
He also scored on his full debut for Nigeria in a 2-2 friendly draw against Ukraine in September.
