Lagos State Government Announces Traffic Diversion Plan for Third Mainland Bridge Rehabilitation on April 2nd, 2023

The Lagos State Government has announced that it will be implementing a traffic diversion plan for the rehabilitation process on the Third Mainland Bridge. This plan is scheduled to take place between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 2, 2023. The Commissioner for Transportation in the state, Dr Fredric Oladeinde, made this announcement on Saturday, citing a notification received from the Lagos State Public Works Corporation regarding the readiness to repair the identified failed/peeled asphaltic sections of the bridge.

According to Oladeinde, the traffic diversion is necessary to ensure that tailbacks along the bridge are minimized during peak periods. This will involve diverting traffic from one lane to another at the identified failed asphaltic sections on the Bridge. The commissioner emphasized the need to solve these issues as soon as possible to ensure the safety of all road users.

Oladeinde further assured motorists that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would be fully on the ground to direct traffic and minimize possible inconveniences. He urged all motorists to be patient and follow traffic rules and regulations to ensure a smooth and seamless traffic diversion process.

The rehabilitation process on the Third Mainland Bridge is a necessary step in ensuring that the infrastructure remains safe and functional for everyone. The Lagos State Government remains committed to providing quality road infrastructure and ensuring the safety of all road users. As such, the traffic diversion plan is a proactive step towards achieving this goal. Road users are advised to comply with traffic instructions and regulations, be patient and cooperative with traffic officials during this period.
