US emergency aid arrives at Colombia despite border blockage

Venezuela has been hit with shortages of basic food and medicine as a result the collapse of world oil prices in 2014.  and over two millions Venezuelans have fled to neighboring countries in search of comfort.



Recently, Juan Guaido the self-proclaimed interim president has calls for humanitarian assistance in a bid to mitigate the economic crisis.

In responses to the request, the US officials has transport trucks carrying food and medical supplies has arrived in Cucuta, on the Colombia-Venezuela, amounting tensions tensions with the government of President Nicolas Maduro Caracas.

US officials has criticize the attempt of President Maduro to put a barrier in a bid to stop their access, However Maduro has reacted to the request made by the opposition leader stating that the move is a ploy to humiliate Venezuela, “We are not beggars,” When addressing the press.

Colombian government has said the supplies will not be distributed in Colombia but in Venezuela, urging Venezuelans not to come to Cucuta in search of it.
