Volkswagen concept is set to become the first largest producer of electric cars in the world, also making plans to raise annual production of electric cars to 2 million by 2025, from 30,000 in 2018, despite its cost, power inconvenience and lack of range attached to it.

The German giant has staked its future, to the tune of 80 billion euros ($91 billion), on being able to profitably mass-produce electric vehicles – a feat no carmaker has come close to achieving.
