Fire destroys Flux Logistics warehouse in Lagos, Nigeria

A devastating fire broke out at a Flux Logistics warehouse located on Sapara Street, off Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja in Lagos State, causing significant damage to the property. The incident occurred on a Sunday morning around 08:58am, and thankfully no casualties were recorded. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, alongside fire crews from Ikeja, Alausa, and Bolade, battled to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading beyond the warehouse.

Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Adeseye Margaret, confirmed that the fire was successfully curtailed, and all necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety of nearby properties. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) also confirmed the incident through its Lagos Territorial Office. Ibrahim Farinloye, the state Coordinator of NEMA Territorial Office, stated that the fire consumed the entire warehouse, which housed imported drinks and a few other items.

Farinloye further revealed that staff members on duty at the time could have prevented the fire from spreading from the beginning, but they were hesitant to break into the warehouse due to fear of the owners. It wasn’t until the owners arrived and ordered them to break the doors that the situation had already gone out of control. However, the Berger Paints Fire Service worked tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby SKG Pharmaceutical Company.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing to unravel the incident’s circumstances. Such incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of adequate safety measures and preparedness in preventing and managing fire outbreaks. It is crucial for individuals and organizations to prioritize safety and take appropriate steps to mitigate the risks of fire outbreaks.
