NAFDAC Confirms Locally Produced Indomie Instant Noodles in Nigeria as Safe for Consumption

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) recently affirmed the safety of locally produced Indomie Instant Noodles in Nigeria, putting to rest the rumors circulating on the internet about a potential ban on the product. The regulatory body’s Director-General, Prof Mrs. Mojisola Adeyeye, addressed these concerns on Monday, assuring Nigerian consumers that there is no cause for alarm.

In her statement, Prof Adeyeye clarified, “NAFDAC did not ban Indomie Instant Noodles produced in Nigeria. NAFDAC has registered several local manufacturers, and the Indomie noodles have been certified safe for consumption. The Taiwan and Malaysia noodles have nothing to do with our local producers.” This comes as a relief for consumers who have been bombarded with misleading publications claiming that the regulatory body banned the famous instant noodles.

The flurry of false information originated from reports alleging the detection of ethylene oxide, a carcinogenic substance, in Indomie’s “special chicken” flavor in Taiwan and Malaysia. These reports were shared by health officials in both countries, leading to widespread concern among consumers.

Tope Ashiwaju, the Group Corporate Communications and Event Manager at Dufil Prima Foods Limited, the local producer of Indomie Instant Noodles in Nigeria, spoke up to reassure customers of the product’s safety. He stated, “We would like to assure our valued customers in Nigeria that all packs of Indomie Instant Noodles consumed in Nigeria are produced locally under strict international best manufacturing procedures with ISO-certified standards.”

Ashiwaju emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to maintaining international good manufacturing processes and ensuring that the quality of every pack of instant noodles produced in all their factories in Nigeria remains uncompromised. He went on to say, “We adhere strictly to the standard procedures set by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) in all our manufacturing processes.”

Dufil Prima Foods Limited takes great pride in using only the finest ingredients from reputable suppliers. The company’s production facilities are subject to regular inspections and audits to guarantee that they consistently meet the highest standards.

Having produced Indomie Instant Noodles in Nigeria for nearly three decades, Dufil Prima Foods Limited continues to prioritize the safety and satisfaction of its customers, providing a reliable and delicious product for millions of Nigerian consumers to enjoy.
