Lagos State Governorship Candidates Step Down to Endorse Sanwo-Olu

The Alliance of Registered Political Parties (ARPP) for Lagos State Governorship race has recently declared their support for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s re-election bid. The group, comprising nine registered political parties in the state including APP, ADP, APM, NRM, YPP, NNPP, ZLP, SDP, PRP, expressed their interest in the good works of the state government and their desire for continuity and realization of the dream Lagos of this administration.

Speaking at a press conference, the group noted that the governor’s consistency as a progressive democrat is worthy of due commendation, and continuity is key. According to them, they reached this decision after a thorough analysis of all the good works and rapid development in Lagos. They could not sacrifice the various landmark achievements of the present administration scattered all over the state on the altar of bitter politicking.

The group observed the governor’s energetic campaign through the nooks, corners, and crannies of the state. They also recognized that he delivered on his social contract with the good people of Lagos through the famed THEMES mantra. They acknowledged that he literally saved the country from the scourge of COVID-19 through proactive measures that underscored his responsive and responsible attributes.

Furthermore, the group highlighted the massive road construction, investments in education, healthcare services, the environment, youth empowerment, tourism, public transportation, housing, science and technology, among others, which need to be consolidated during his second term.

The group stated that it makes a whole lot of sense for Lagos State to be in tune with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidency at a time like this to achieve their age-long desires and lofty aspirations. His message of Greater Lagos Rising reverberated with all and sundry, and they can safely conclude that they have in Sanwo-Olu a governor who is resolutely committed to taking their state to greater heights in the years ahead.

The group further stated that Lagos State at a time like this is better entrusted in the hands of experienced and patriotic leaders. They noted that a vote for Sanwo-Olu will indeed be an endorsement for continuity and greater development.

In view of the above, ARPP has decided to support Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for a second term in the office as Governor of Lagos State in the coming election on March 18, 2023. They are pleased to also announce that seven governorship candidates from among the alliance are stepping down their governorship ambition to declare their support for Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

Speaking at the official endorsement, ZLP Lagos state chairman, Adekunle Adenipekun said the endorsement became necessary for continuity and greater Lagos. He noted that history was taking place that day as political parties in Lagos came together to make history by officially declaring their support for the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.

Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Akosile, noted that the decision of Sanwo-Olu to seek a second term in office was to consolidate on his achievements and performance in Lagos. He described Sanwo-Olu as the most experienced among all the governorship candidates in Lagos State.

In an article he penned, Akosile wrote that Sanwo-Olu, an exemplary public sector reformer and astute politician, known for his love and passion for the public service, has shown leadership in Lagos by giving the electorate a great deal in steering the ship of the nation’s commercial city in the right direction. As the 15th Lagos Governor, and having worked closely with previous governors – Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Babatunde Raji Fashola.
