In anticipation of the grand 9th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) 2023, Nollywood stars Tobi Bakre, Bimbo Ademoye, and Chidi Mokeme lead the pack in the list of nominees. The nominations were unveiled by the awards organizers, MultiChoice, on the evening of Sunday, April 16, 2023. This yearly event, which traditionally celebrates exceptional achievements in television, film, and entertainment, has expanded its scope to include digital content creation throughout Nollywood and the entire African continent.

A select number of categories will allow the public to vote for their favorite nominees, while the rest will be determined by a panel of judges assembled by the organizers. This year’s ceremony is slated to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, on May 20th. The following is a comprehensive list of nominees across various categories for AMVCA 2023:

In the BEST ACTOR IN A DRAMA (MOVIE/TV SERIES) category, also open for public voting, the nominees are Blossom Chukwujekwu for The Trade, Chidi Mokeme for Shanty Town, Chimezie Imo for Choke, Daniel Etim-Effiong for Kofa, Femi Adebayo for King of Thieves (Agesinkole), NKakalukanyi Patriq for Tembele, O.C. Ukeje for Black Mail, Richard Mofe Damijo for Four Four Forty Four, Tobi Bakre for Brotherhood, and Tope Tedela for All The Colours Of The World Are Between Black and White.

Nominees for BEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY (MOVIE/TV SERIES), open to public voting, are Albert Oluwatoyin for Visa On Arrival, Bimbo Ademoye for Selina, Funke Akindele for Battle On Buka Street, Grace Wacuka for Married to Work, Mercy Johnson for Battle On Buka Street, and Mercy Johnson Onogie for Passport.
