FRSC Commends Osun State Patrol Team for Returning N27m Recovered from Auto Crash Scene

The Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, has expressed his appreciation to the patrol teams of the Osun State Sector Command for their exceptional professionalism in returning the sum of N27,171,400, which they had recovered from an auto crash scene last week. The FRSC patrol team had recovered the money from the scene of a road accident that had occurred in Ipetu Ijesa, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.

The accident had led to the loss of six lives, while seven people had sustained various degrees of injuries. In a statement released on Sunday, the corps’ spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, quoted the Corps Marshal as commending the team for their display of honesty, efficiency, and professionalism in delivering the FRSC’s mandate. Biu went on to say that the team’s actions were patriotic and considered a great service to humanity.

He urged every officer to emulate the team’s character, saying that good deeds pay off, and the road is patient but does not forgive. The Corps Marshal added that the recovered N27m had been returned to the victim’s family in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Ipetu-Ijesa, Seriki Owena, and the head of the Hausa community.

Biu stated that many crashes on Nigerian roads were avoidable if only motorists would adhere to traffic rules and regulations. He recalled that two commercial vehicles, an Opel and a Toyota Sienna, had been involved in the accident, and the probable causes of the crash were dangerous driving and speeding.

The injured victims were taken to Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, while the corpses of the deceased were deposited at the same hospital morgue. A sum of N21,900, which belonged to the driver who drove GBA440XA OPEL ZAFIRA, was handed over to NPF Ijebu Ijesa. The NPF towed the vehicles to their station.

The Corps Marshal urged motorists to comply with traffic rules and regulations, especially during this festive period, to avoid crashes. He emphasized that road safety is everyone’s responsibility, and adherence to traffic laws will save lives, prevent injuries, and promote safe driving practices.
