University of Benin Emerges Winner of Africa Outstanding University Award in Rwanda

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has been announced as the winner of the prestigious Africa Outstanding University Award of the Year for 2023 in Rwanda. The institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Lilian Salami, was also recognized and honored with the Africa Pillar of Education Award for her remarkable impact in educational development across the continent.

Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, the university’s Public Relations Officer, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Benin. The awards were presented during the 1st Africa Education Summit held at the University of Rwanda in Kigali.

In addition to her leadership role as the Vice-Chancellor of University of Benin, Prof. Salami has also played a pivotal role in the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Federal Universities. Furthermore, she holds the position of Vice President of the Association of African Universities with headquarters in Ghana.

Ehanire stated that the Vice-Chancellor utilized her position to highlight and promote the remarkable achievements of many African universities, including UNIBEN. This recognition of the university’s outstanding performance in education in Africa is a testament to its commitment to excellence and dedication to driving growth and development on the continent.
