Recently, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, made an announcement regarding the alleged threat that was issued against the Igbo people by the Chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, commonly known as MC Oluomo. According to Owohunwa, an investigation has been launched into the matter in order to get to the bottom of what transpired and to ensure that justice is served.

During an interview with TV Arise News on the preview of the governorship and state assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, Owohunwa spoke out against any act or statement that could be perceived as contributing to political tension. He stated that the Lagos State Police Force strongly condemns any action or speech that could be interpreted as such.

The alleged threat against the Igbo people was in the form of a viral video, which featured MC Oluomo stating that any Igbo person residing in Lagos who does not vote for the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), should not bother showing up to the polls at all. The video immediately caused a stir and has since prompted the ongoing investigation by the Lagos State Police.
