Burundi suspends BBC, VOA operations.

Burundi has announced broadcast bans on two international networks. The measure which takes off on Monday May 7 affects the Voice of America (VOA) and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

According to a statement released by the government, the ban is to last for a period of six months and the reason for the suspension is for “falling short of laws governing the press” and “breaching professional ethics”.

Another country known to have suspended operations of an international channel is of Democratic Republic of Congo’s frosty relations with Radio France International (RFI) radio and U.N.-backed Radio Okapi’s signal.
