Governor Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State Says He Is Leaving the State Better Than He Met It

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has recently reiterated the importance of hard work and performance in public office, and has assured the people of the state that he will leave the state in a better state than he found it. Despite the economic downturn and various challenges faced by the country, Emmanuel’s administration has worked tirelessly to weather the storms.

Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Clerk of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs. Nsikakabasi Orok, at the Exco Chambers of the Government House in Uyo, the Governor expressed his confidence in the capability of his successor to perform even better than he has done.

In his words, “For those serving, please serve well so that we build a strong state. I want to assure you that I am leaving Akwa Ibom better than how I met it, and the next person will leave it better than I handed over to him.”

The Governor urged serving Permanent Secretaries and Heads of various government agencies to ensure a seamless transition to the incoming administration in the state, adding that he is leaving them with a full umbrella, not a torn one. He emphasized the need to ensure that the umbrella is not torn.

Governor Emmanuel congratulated Mrs. Nsikakabasi Orok on her appointment as the new Clerk of the State House of Assembly, and charged her to work hard to do much better than her predecessor. He also commended the immediate past Clerk of the House, Mrs. Mandu Umoren, for her exceptional professionalism, high capacity, and integrity.

Speaking further, Governor Emmanuel said, “She did so well, unfortunately, whatever has a beginning must have an end. I want to believe that Mrs. Orok will also build on what she has done and improve on it, and judging from how you performed in the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, I want to believe you will do much better.”

In her response, the newly sworn-in Clerk, Mrs. Nsikakabasi Orok, expressed her gratitude for being given the opportunity to serve the state in a higher capacity. She pledged to render the required services in the new office to the best of her abilities.

In conclusion, Governor Udom Emmanuel’s emphasis on hard work and performance in public office is a timely reminder to all public servants of the need to put in their best to ensure the growth and development of the state. His commitment to leaving the state in a better state than he found it is laudable, and his call for a seamless transition to the incoming administration is a demonstration of his commitment to good governance. We wish the newly appointed Clerk, Mrs. Nsikakabasi Orok, a successful tenure and urge her to build on the good works of her predecessor.
