A mum who confessed to strangling her nine-year-old son to death on Halloween said that she had been trying to ‘save him’.

When Amber James, 47, was arrested she was carrying two cloves of garlic, a light and a vial of ‘Holy water’, police said.

Her son Ryan Rosales was found cold and unresponsive by his father James on Tuesday morning.

Paramedics were called to the family home in Seabeck, Washington, but the boy could not be revived.

Amber had red marks on her neck where little Ryan had apparently fought back.

She was taken by police for a mental health evaluation.

A detective said while in hospital she voluntarily confessed, saying “she needed to save her son from people that were after us, needed to protect him.

“She had described (the boy) as the best kid in the world.”

“She stated she had prayed, thought about it, cried and then put her hands around his throat so he couldn’t breathe any longer.”

A court heard Amber was taking medication for anxiety but had no further diagnosis of mental health problems.

She has been charged with second degree murder.

Above the child’s bed she had scrawled messages including “Harvest,” “Spaywar,” “Greed kills,” “sex trade,” “God is coming.

Amber told police she had been watching political conspiracy videos on YouTube.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help Ryan’s father with funeral costs.

A message read: “Ryan’s father, James “Jimbo” Rosales, is understandably struggling to comprehend and deal with the unfathomable loss of his beloved youngest son, and console his two remaining children.

“We, as a community can come together and help with the unexpected costs of a funeral for this sweet little boy who was taken too soon from his loving dad, and family. “

Abiy Ahmed wins the 2019 Nobel Peace Award

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed won the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize for immersly efforts to end two decades of hostility with longtime enemy Eritrea.

Though Africa’s youngest leader still faces big challenges, he has in under two years in power begun political and economic reforms that promise a better life for many in impoverished Ethiopia and restored ties with Eritrea that had been frozen since a 1998-2000 border war.

“We are proud as a nation,” the prime minister’s office said in a statement, hailing a “collective win for all Ethiopians, and a call to strengthen our resolve in making Ethiopia – the new horizon of hope – a prosperous nation for all.”

It said the prize was meant to recognize “all the stakeholders working for peace and reconciliation in Ethiopia and in the East and Northeast African regions.”

The Nobel Committee’s decision appeared designed to encourage the peace process, echoing the 1994 peace prize shared by Israeli and Palestinian leaders and the 1993 award for moves towards reconciliation in South Africa, said Dan Smith, head of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
