Tragedy has once again struck the city of Lagos, as on Monday, 13th March 2023, a tragic accident occurred in the Isolo area of the state, leaving two young children dead and another injured. The unfortunate incident was caused by the driver of a Lexus jeep with number plates LSD 356GU, who lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a kiosk.
According to an eyewitness who was present at the scene of the tragic accident, the two children who lost their lives in the incident were both sons of a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain. The children, aged 17 and 14, were reportedly playing with another child from a neighboring house at No. 2 Iyewa Street off Kogberegbe, Isolo, when the incident occurred at approximately 7:40 pm on Sunday evening.
The impact of the vehicle’s collision with the kiosk was so severe that it carried on into the rooms of the house, causing significant damage and injuring the children. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene, and the injured children were rushed to the Isolo General Hospital for medical attention.
Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, two of the children were confirmed dead at the hospital. This tragic loss of young lives has left the community in shock and mourning, as the news of the incident spreads throughout the city.
In response to the incident, the Isolo Local Government Chairman, Mr. Olasoju Bayo, visited the scene of the accident with his entourage, expressing his condolences to the affected families and promising that the government would do everything within its power to support them during this difficult time.
This unfortunate incident is a reminder of the need for caution and vigilance on our roads, especially as we navigate through the challenges of daily life. As a society, we must continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our citizens, particularly our children who are the future of our nation. May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may their families find comfort and solace in this trying time.
